TRANSITIONAL HOUSING
Care Ranui Transitional Housing is for those who are homeless or who are living in unsafe or overcrowded situations. To be eligible for our housing, potential clients must be registered on the MSD (Ministry of Social Development) Housing Register and be referred to us from WINZ.
We have seven houses; one house is used for a couple and children and each of the remaining houses is shared by two single mums and their children. All houses are fully furnished and equipped with their own kitchen, dining, bathroom and laundry facilities. Rent is redirected from the clients benefit or paid by automatic payment to Care Ranui Transitional Housing. This is set up once the client is accepted into our houses. As we are providing short term accommodation, we aim to house clients for no more than twelve weeks. In that time, clients are encouraged to actively search for private rental accommodation.
During their stay, clients are well supported by our housing staff. We offer budgeting, ongoing monitoring of well-being and goal setting for a more independent future. We often advocate for clients at WINZ, school and other outside services.
